A story spanning four generations of fun

The first Sportland amusement park was established in the seaside resort of Blankenberge in 1930. It was the first amusement park on the Belgian coast and was an instant hit. The amusement machines on offer at the time were still electromechanical, and you could already play a game for between 20 centimes and 1 franc.

The continuous expansion driven by its great success came to an end during the Second World War.

It was not until 1947 that a new amusement park called Sportland opened in Blankenberge, at the same time as branches in De Panne and Knokke.

Since then, Sportland has continued to grow steadily, eventually becoming one of the largest indoor amusement parks on the coast.

Amusement machines have evolved from electromechanical devices to high-tech electronic machines, and the range of amusement machines has been expanded to include other forms of entertainment such as bowling alleys and, later, indoor mini-golf.
